Quick Start
  1. 1
    Browse the library

WatchBrief opens on the Library tab — search or filter sample scenarios by service, IC level, terrain or incident type. Scenarios with an arrival video are shown first.

  2. 2
    Choose how you'll run it

Click a scenario card and pick Solo or Leader.

  3. 3
    Work through the phases

Each phase opens with narration and a scene image, then a discussion question. Answer it, reveal the answer key and explanation, and move to the next phase — a realistic incident narrative from mobilisation through to stand-down.

    Review the debrief

Ending a session shows Key Learnings, Reflection prompts and (where questions were answered) a Crew Performance summary — how many discussion questions matched the answer key, and which phases are worth revisiting.

Solo vs Leader
Solo

Everything runs on one device. You set the pace yourself — read the narration, answer the discussion question, and reveal the answer when you're ready. The answer key unlocks as you go.

Leader

Projects to the watch room on a shared screen. Scan the QR code to open a private leader panel on your phone — reveal hazards, control measures and answers from there while the group display stays clean. Answer keys stay private to you throughout.

What's In A Session
🔊
Narration Each phase is voiced (Dan or Alice) alongside the on-screen text, so the group can follow along without reading.
🗺️
MDT intelligence A collapsible panel surfaces relevant mobile data terminal information — hydrant maps, SSRI, vehicle data — only where it applies to the incident type.
⚠️
Hazard interstitials At key points, hazards and control-measure multiple-choice questions interrupt the narrative for a focused check.
🗣️
Actor dialogue Some phases include a Member of the Public strip with in-character dialogue to react to.
For Administrators
🔑
Unlocking scenario generation Append ?admin to the app URL and enter the shared admin key. This unlocks the Quick start and Guided setup tabs, which are hidden from normal visitors — only the Library tab is public by default.
⚙️
Quick start vs Guided setup Quick start picks a fire service, incident type, narrator voice and session depth (Quick/Standard/Deep). Guided setup adds IC level, terrain, weather, time of day, complications and free-text constraints. A "Demo session" runs instantly without an admin key.
📚
Saving to the shared library Guided setup has a "save to library" toggle so a generated scenario becomes available to everyone, not just your session.
Rate limit: scenario generation is capped at 10 sessions per day per IP address.
