Common questions
How is this different from RFID asset tracking?
Full RFID asset-management suites track a station's whole inventory lifecycle — inspection schedules, retirement dates, compliance reporting — and need reader infrastructure to match. Equipment Tag answers one narrower question: whose kit is this, and how do I get it back to them. It's a printed label, not a procurement project.
Do I need an app to scan a tag?
No. Any phone camera reads the QR code and opens the item's page in a browser — no install, no account. NFC tags are optional and encoded manually onto a blank sticker by the equipment officer; where fitted, they work the same way with a tap on an NFC-capable phone.
What happens to the data?
A registered item stores only its description, watch, appliance and station — no personal names, no location tracking, nothing beyond what's needed to reunite it with the right crew.
Is this ready to use today?
